The folks from 123flickr have released a new service at host.123.flickr.com that takes your Flickr account and gives it a “dynamic, functional, cool interface”. All you need to do is go to host.123flickr.com, enter the URL to your Flickr account, then it will generate a page for you complete with a URL you can give out or link to. Its a great way to show off your Flickr photos as a gallery. You can see my page here. A few drawbacks I’ve seen so far is that it will only show the first 30 pictures from any of your sets, it will not show pictures that are not in sets and there is no way to go from one picture to another without going back to the main page. Otherwise its a nice way to show off your portfolio to friends, family or potential clients.

Over at Flickr, Ape Lad has issued a challenge, Re-Ink Jack Kirby’s Mighty Thor pencil’s better than Vince Colletta. Page 144 of Lee/Kirby’s Might Thor has been posted and it up to you to re-ink the page yourself then upload your work to the Flickr pool. You can do the whole page or just a panel, its up to you. Since my artistic talent ends at stick figures and coloring books, I’m just going to enjoy everyone else’s submissions.

Did Wizard #185 rip me off?

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: comics, photos

I just received my new issue of Wizard today and while thumbing through it, page 4 caught my eye.

Its probably just a coincidence…but maybe not?

Project 365: One Month Later…

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: photos

Picture 1-15

My first month of Project 365 is complete. Its been an busy month for me and I’ve been able to keep new idea coming but I have a feeling this is going to be a long year. Its going to be tough to photograph something new everyday but thats the kinda challenge that will make me a better photographer. I’ve learned a lot this month just about the way my camera works and what settings work best. I’ve taken some pictures I’ve loved and I’ve taken pictures I’ve hated.

I’ve also started posting my Project 365 pictures to Blipfoto. Blipfoto is a daily online photo journal that is perfect for One-a-day photo projects.

You can view and subscribe to my Blipfoto page here.

FlickrExport 2.0

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: software

Fe20Screenshot

One of my firsts apps i install when I got my macbook was FlickrExport. FlickrExport adds an export option to iPhoto to send photos directly to your Flickr account. It was a very useful program at a great price, free. When version 2.0 came around, the author decided to start charging for it. Since 1.x was working great, I saw no need to upgrade.

Well, with Project 365 in full effect, as much as it can be after 4 days, I decided to buy FlickrExport 2.0. The new photoset and pool options are what sold me. With 1.x i had to upload then goto Flickr.com and add all the photos i wanted to a existing set or pool. It was $22.32 for the plugin which i think is a little much and one of the reasons I never upgraded before. If it was something like $9.95, I would have bought it months ago. But it should pay for itself in no time….I hope.

Nintendo DS Lite case by Waterfield Designs

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: games

January 3
For Christmas this year, I treated myself to a new Nintendo DS case after seeing a pre-order picture of it over at theory.isthereason. I ordered it right before Christmas so I didn’t get in until a few days ago due to the holidays.

I absolutely love this case. The quality is exceptional as to be expected from Waterfield Designs. The case itself holds the DS Lite itself, 3 games and an extra stylus. In addition it had a zippered pouch in the back that can hold addition games, headphones, lint free rag, cash, even my iPod nano fits without it being too tight. I really couldn’t ask for more in a case. The case its a little pricey at $39 but its well worth it

I’ve posted a ton of pictures on Flickr if you’d like to see more of it.
