Here are some unpacking photos of my new Timbuk2 Commute bag. I’ve been using it for about a month now and I actually love it more than my Blogger.

Year End: Project 365 ‘07

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: photos

Created with flickrSLiDR.

With the end of 2007 comes the end of my Project 365 photography experiment. One picture a day for one year. While it doesn’t sound hard, it really became a challenge to find something new to photograph each day. As much fun as it was, I’m glad its over. I learned a lot about my Fuji V10 and when I finally switch to a DSLR, I may do another Project 365. Overall it was a great way to learn about my camera capabilities and also keep a daily photolog of my day to day life. I will almost definitely do another one when I purchase a DSLR but this year, I’m going to enjoy the time off.

Timbuk2 launches new website

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: life, photos

Timbuk2 recently contacted me about using one of my photos for a redesign of their webpage. Of course I said yes as I love my Timbuk2 bag. Well today is the day they launched the new website and my picture is part of the header for the laptop section.

Check it out.

They also gave me a $125 gift card for using my picture and I made waste to that on a new Commute bag and a Monroe Wallet in a matter of minutes. I love my Blogger but hoping the Commute will be a little smaller. I do like the fact it has a place for water bottles on the outside. I’ve also given up on Jimi wallets as they keep breaking on me so I’m going to try my luck with a wallet from Timbuk2.

Show Off Your Flickr Photos in Style

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: photos, web

Picture 4

The folks from 123flickr have released a new service at host.123.flickr.com that takes your Flickr account and gives it a “dynamic, functional, cool interface”. All you need to do is go to host.123flickr.com, enter the URL to your Flickr account, then it will generate a page for you complete with a URL you can give out or link to. Its a great way to show off your Flickr photos as a gallery. You can see my page here. A few drawbacks I’ve seen so far is that it will only show the first 30 pictures from any of your sets, it will not show pictures that are not in sets and there is no way to go from one picture to another without going back to the main page. Otherwise its a nice way to show off your portfolio to friends, family or potential clients.

Faceblog with Flickaday

Written by: Alec Peden - Posted in: photos, web

I’m sure you have all seen the videos on YouTube of people who took a picture a day for a year and compiled it into a video. Well now thanks to Flickaday you too can have faceblog of yourself from the comfort of your own home. Flickaday takes the idea and makes it super simple. Go to their website, enter your login and password and click Take my Picture. Bam! your picture is taken and its added to your collection. It uses Flash to access your webcam so no additional software is needed. They generate a widget that you can embed anywhere you’d would like, just like the one above. Even add some music. The webpage will email you if you haven’t taken a picture for the day yet so you don’t forget. You can only take one picture a day so make it count. I decided against this kinda project when I started my Project 365 but the website makes it super simple so I’ll be uploading my picture each day until I get tired of it.
