I have the same problem every time I think of a good domain name. The problem the domainers have registered every one two and three english language word domains, so withour reverting to hypens or a .net, .org, .info etc your pretty much screwed.
The other issue is that they want incredible amounts of money to sell them to you, I recently enquired on one that would have little value to anyone and they wanted over $2000 for it…

I had some encoding method because the previous versions of Wordpress was using Latin1 in the database, but the new version is using UTF-8.
